Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Germanna Community College awards Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to students who successfully complete professional course requirements. CEUs provide a nationally recognized standard for tracking participation in noncredit continuing education programs.

What is a CEU?

  • One CEU equals ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education course.
  • Courses must be completed under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.
  • CEUs are commonly used for professional development, certification renewal, and career advancement.

CEU Certification

Upon successful course completion, students receive a certificate documenting earned CEUs for their records.

Germanna Community College allows students under 18 to enroll in noncredit courses under certain conditions. Both the student and a parent or guardian must sign a letter acknowledging the following:

  • The student will be in a class designed for adults.
  • The student must demonstrate responsible behavior at all times. Any disruptive behavior may result in removal from the class and campus.
  • Full tuition and fees must be paid at the time of registration.

Enrollment Restrictions for Minors

  • The College reserves the right to deny enrollment to minors in courses that are potentially hazardous, unsafe, or otherwise inappropriate for students under 18.
