Students will earn the Associate of Science in Health Science degree upon completion of the Kinesiology advising pathway. This program is designed to prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions offering bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, exercise science, health science, or related disciplines.
The curriculum incorporate foundational coursework in health sciences, human anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, biology, and general education, consistent with lower-division requirements at many baccalaureate institutions. The program emphasizes scientific principles related to human movement, physical activity, and wellness, while supporting the development of analytical thinking, written and oral communication, and quantitative reasoning skills.
Students completing this degree may fall into one of the following categories:
- Students intending to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, exercise science, sports science, health promotion, or a related field.
- Students preparing for advanced study or professional programs following completion of a bachelor’s degree, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, or exercise physiology.
- Students seeking entry-level employment in health, fitness, and wellness-related settings where an associate degree is appropriate.
While the primary purpose of this degree is transfer, graduates may be qualified for entry-level or support roles in settings such as fitness and wellness centers, rehabilitation facilities, community health organizations, sports and recreation programs, and corporate wellness environments. Employment opportunities and job titles vary by employer and may require additional training, certification, or education.
Students are strongly encouraged to consult with an academic advisor to ensure course selection aligns with transfer requirements of the selected receiving institution. Transfer institutions may have specific policies regarding laboratory coursework.
