Uniform Certificate of General Studies-Can Be Completed Online-695

Purpose: First-time job seekers who come to their employers with basic writing, analytical reasoning, and computing skills find they can be more competitive in the job market and more valuable in the workplace.
 

Occupational Objectives: Counter and retail clerks, administrative support, social and human service assistants, and customer service positions, as well as a variety of other fields, allow individuals to apply their entry-level knowledge and skills while exploring the world of work and relevant career opportunities as well as identifying more specific career and educational goals. For those employees who wish to pursue their education, the general education certificate provides foundational courses that allow students to progress toward the associate degree or to transfer to a senior institution.

Admission Requirements: All students will be required to demonstrate college readiness through transcript review or informed self-placement. Based on this review students may request or be required to enroll in prerequisite or corequisite math and/or English courses. Students must select and complete 30 total credit hours to be eligible for the Uniform Certificate of General Studies.

Program Requirements


Humanities/Art/Literature-Select two courses chosen from different categories (Please note that the two courses cannot be from the same category) (6 Cr.)


Mathematics-Select One Course (3-5 Cr.)


Specialized General Education Requirements-Select Two Courses (3-4 Cr.)


NOTE: Students may complete courses from Blocks I-VI above or any additional course below. Students should align the courses below with their intended transfer destination’s specific general education or programmatic requirements.
